The spirit of the Lord is upon me for He hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn...

t is time for a prophetic word to the nation. It is time for courageous people to stand up and be counted, to call for a change in our country's priorities. In short, people priorities must take precedence over the priorities of national and multinational corporations. Those who preach in the name of the lowly Nazarene must remember that Jesus was not a prosperity gospel preacher. ---from the reflection "A Call to Action in an Unsafe Word"

SPEAK UNTIL JUSTICE WAKES:

PROPHETIC REFLECTIONS FROM J. ALFRED SMITH SR.

From one of the most respected statesmen in the African American church comes an inspirational resource that
communicates with unbridled passion when it means to speak truth to power. As an influential leader in the contemporary church, for decades Dr. J. Alfred Smith Sr. has demonstrated for "all who have ears to hear" what it means to speak prophetically in the biblical tradition.

Rooted firmly in messages from both the Old and New Testaments, Dr. Smith's compelling book will inform preachers
and teachers who aspire to proclaim peace and justice in their ministries. For parents, church members, and citizens, this resource will inspire all who dare to speak the truth regardless of the consequences.

Destined to be a classic, Speak Until Justice Wakes seals the legacy of J. Alfred Smith Sr. as one of the country's foremost advocates of prophetic ministry.
